About the role:

The Open Source Software (OSS) group inside Arm China Global Services business unit has 5 teams with 50+ software engineers (and still growing) working very closely with the Open Source Software Group, Architecture Technology Group, and various business line groups inside Arm. The OSS group are responsible for enabling and optimizing open source software stacks and providing software solutions in the areas of (but not limited to) enterprise server, networking, embedded, IoT, platform security. The teams inside OSS also work closely with Linaro, various open source communities, and Arm partners to help further strengthen the Arm software ecosystem.

This role will be joining the OSS – Networking team as a Software Engineer, responsible for networking related areas.



What will I be accountable for?

o  Work on key open source software projects to enable and optimize data plane networking software (e.g. DPDK, OVS, VPP) for Arm based systems.

o  Collaborate with internal/external key partners to understand requirements and develop key features for the Arm architecture in Networking related OSS projects.

o  Work with Arm CPU and Architecture teams to discuss new CPU features and enable them in OSS projects.

o  Work with Arm partners and the open source community to upstream and maintain code.

o  As a successful candidate, you need to be flexible, with a variety of software development skills and a commitment to extending the breadth and depth of your knowledge.

 

What capabilities, experience, and qualifications do I need?

o  Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent degree.

o  At least 1 year of working experience on software development and optimization.

o  Proficiency in one or more programming languages, e.g. C/C++, Java, Python.

o  Strong understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP stack, L2/L3 network protocols, and switching/routing technology.

o  Hands on experience in designing, implementing, and debugging software for networking systems.

o  Familiar with Linux and related distributions, e.g. RHEL, CentOS, SUSE, Ubuntu.

o  Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.

 

Desired Capabilities & Experiences:

o  Familiar with open source project development and patch contribution processes.

o  Familiar with concepts and standards related to SDN and NFV.

o  Experience with open source networking fast packet processing project such as DPDK/OVS/VPP is highly desired.

o  Experience in various Linux tools related to source code version control, code review, bug tracking, CI/CD, e.g. Git/Gerrit/Jira/Jenkins.

o  Familiar with Agile software development methodology such as Scrum or Kanban.
