Data Scientist ---Job description



Responsibilities

• Collaborate with end customer and internal cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business needs. Formulate a roadmap of project activity that leads to measurable improvement in business performance metrics/key performance indicators (KPIs) over time.

• Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations.

• Architect, develop and automate Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions. Iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale.

• Make business recommendations (cost-benefit, invest-divest, forecasting, impact analysis) with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.

• Develop comprehensive understanding of data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed.





Qualifications 

• A PhD in an data-related discipline.

• Previous experience as a Project Leader or Project Scientist for data-driven projects, or demonstrated potential from other leadership roles to assume such a role.

• Demonstrated knowledge of data services and/or previous research experience involving extensive use of such services.

• Ability to engage and build relationships across a range of stakeholder groups and technical project teams.

• The ability to work effectively as a member and leader of a regionally dispersed project team to provide the high level specifications, communications and science leadership needed to ensure that project deliverables are met.

Role Specific Characteristics May Include

• Background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research or equivalent technical field

• Knowledge of machine learning and data mining techniques in one or more areas of statistical modeling methods, time series, text mining, optimization, information retrieval. 

• Ability to prototype statistical analysis and modeling algorithms and apply these algorithms for data driven solutions to problems in new domains. 

• Software development skills in one or more high level languages (C#/C/C++/Java/F#), one or more scripting languages (Python/Perl/Shell), knowledge of R. Expertise any of the common ML tools (Weka, R, RapidMiner, KNIME, Scikit Learn, SAS, SPSS, ModelBuilder etc.) is a plus. 

• Ability to build production grade machine learning enabled solutions end to end. 

• Ability to build production grade artificial intelligence enabled solutions end to end.







Data engineer Job description





DE group 1



Work with the AI team,



Major tasks: 1) implement and improve data scientists’ code to production environment (such as in distributed computing environment). 2) lead & push the AI team to follow the best software delivery methodology, such as DevOps and Agile 3) conduct architectural design (under TA’s support if necessary) to enable the algorithm to meet production requirements. Mainly under microservice platform. 4) nice to have Hadoop knowledge, but not mandatory (so far, we don’t have AI projects that need to run on Hadoop, but we do need to port many of them onto microPaaS)





Requirement: 1) Python Others such as Javascript, Java are highly desired. 2) architecture design skills 3) high quality delivery skills (such as TDD, CI, CD, ADOP) 4) familiar with tensorflow, master the major algorithms/models in Tensorflow 5) able to understanding major deep learning/machine learning algorithm, at least to the level that can have meaningful conversation with data scientist 6) good understanding of microservice architecture, familiar with MicroPaaS





 



DE group 2



Work on big data/Hadoop



Major tasks: 1) do data analysis on Hadoop platform, 2) build Hadoop environment and develop analytics applications on Hadoop 3) data visualization skills are highly desired, but optional 4) master spark framework to do data 5) ensure projects delivery follows the agile and devops way (meaning they must be able to apply ADOP to Hadoop)





Skills requirement: 1) Java (Python & R are highly desired, at least be able to pick up Python quickly) 2) Hadoop 3) Spark framework 4) understanding of data analytics algorithms, ideally understand traditional machine learning, such as linear regression, SVM, and so on. 5) high quality delivery skills (such as TDD, CI, CD, ADOP) 6) Tableau, Qlikview, Javascript (D3JS) are highly desired but optional
